Job Summary

Public relations means to use a wide range of media to build and sustain a good image for a company, organisation or brand through planned publicity campaigns and PR activity

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
2. Communicating with colleagues and key spokespeople
3. Liaising with, and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations, often via telephone and email
4. Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
5. Collating and analysing media coverage
6. Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports
7. Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
8. Devising and coordinating photo opportunities
9. Organising events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours
10. Maintaining and updating information on the organisation’s website
11. Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook
12. Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities
13. Commissioning market research
14. Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
15. Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation
